Meet Hocus!
This handsome boy and his brother, Pocus, are thriving after being rescued from an overcrowded shelter. They are about 9 weeks old and are believed to be a Golden Retriever and Rottie mix. Hocus currently weighs 16 pounds and is expected to grow into a larger dog. He is a happy, spunky, and incredibly fun puppy with a fantastic personality. He loves everyone and everything, approaching life with fearless enthusiasm. Hocus will receive multiple sets of vaccines, deworming, a microchip, and neutering as part of his adoption.
Ideal Home
Hocus needs a very active home that can keep up with his high energy. He loves other dogs and would benefit from another playful canine companion to roughhouse with, but he might be too much for dogs who aren't as active. Due to his rambunctious play style and tendency to chase, he is not a good fit for homes with cats or very young children. Older children and adopters experienced with positive puppy training methods would be ideal. A securely fenced yard that is 5ft or higher is required, and dog parks do not count as a fenced yard.
Ongoing Health
Hocus has no known health issues at this time. He will be up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and neutered before adoption.
Training & Support
Hocus is doing well with potty training when taken out regularly, though he still has occasional accidents. He is not yet leash-trained but is doing very well in his crate, which he uses for sleeping overnight with one potty break. He will need continued crate training from his new family, as he has a hard time settling down. Hocus can be mouthy and excitable when playing, so consistent, firm guidance is needed to channel his confidence positively. He needs structure, routine, mental enrichment, and lots of play time. Adopters should be prepared for the work involved with a puppy, including potential accidents, chewing, and the need for puppy-proofing and supervision.
