Hank is a super sweet and goofy boy! He was found as a stray in the country, just trying to survive on his own. Because people were not kind to him when he would come around looking for food, he can be shy and nervous in new places and around new people, but he is never aggressive. Once you win him over, he will give you his entire heart. He is extremely loving and affectionate, quite the big baby! Hank is loyal and goofy. He loves to play and loves adventure. His smile is as big as Texas, and his little underbite is one of the cutest things you'll see!
Ideal Home
Hank would do best in a low-traffic home. He has been fostered with a small, very dog-experienced child and is great, but he is a bit hyper and clumsy at times and can accidentally knock a small child down (he's 80lbs), so he would do best with older children. He would thrive in a home with another dog to play with in a big backyard, but he requires slow introductions as he is wary of new dogs at first. He is rambunctious with his dog friends and needs a friend that tolerates his rough-house play! Hank does well with non-confrontational cats.
Ongoing Health
Hank has a back foot deformity. We do not know if it was a birth defect or if something happened to him, but he only has one toe on his back foot, which contributes to his clumsiness. He has been on glucosamine and joint supplements his entire time in rescue, and it is recommended he stays on them his entire life to prevent early arthritis because of his foot. This is not expensive and can be bought over the counter.
Training & Support
Hank is a bit shy and nervous in new situations, so patience and understanding will be key. He is a playful and energetic dog who would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training to help him channel his energy.
