ACORN

Acorn has been in and out of the shelter system since 2023. At this point, he's probably seen more of our kennels than any dog should. Which is a little surprising when you meet him. He's the kind of dog who believes personal space is optional, belly rubs are mandatory, and every couch was designed with him in mind. Volunteers describe him as an oversized lap dog who loves people, enjoys treats, and happily shows off his sit, shake, and drop skills. Acorn previously lived in a home and was described as affectionate, intelligent, and house-trained. Like many dogs, he isn't perfect. He can be protective of his home when unfamiliar people enter, and he'll need adopters who understand that successful dogs sometimes come with a few chapters in their story. He's also social with most other dogs. The catch? Acorn weighs about 70 pounds and tends to introduce himself with the confidence of someone who has never considered the concept of personal space. Not every dog appreciates being greeted by a full-sized Acorn. One more thing: if your property comes with horses, Acorn would prefer to admire them from a very, very great distance. Around horses, his enthusiasm tends to exceed his good judgment. We need to know- what dog lover out there might be his person? Help us find them!
