My name is Kelsey, and I'm a sweet 4-year-old, 20-pound girl looking for my forever home! I'm a breeder release, and while I'm still learning to trust, my foster family has seen me blossom with bravery and confidence each day. I absolutely adore other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine companion in my new home to share my love for playing in the grass. I also get along wonderfully with cats! I'm a quick learner and am picking up on routines easily. I've discovered the joy of playing with toys and the comfort of cuddling on the couch for a snooze. Oh, and I've also learned how delicious cheese is – I'd be happy to share some with you!
Ideal Home
Kelsey would love a home with another friendly dog to be her playmate. She's not a fan of being kenneled for extended periods, but she is learning that it can be a safe space. While she doesn't walk on a leash yet, she's happy to have it on while exploring the yard. She's looking for a patient and understanding family to help her continue learning what it's like to be a loved dog.
Ongoing Health
Kelsey has an old hematoma in her ear that the vet has deemed untreatable. Keeping her ear clean and dry should help prevent future infections. She also has a small calcium deposit on her eye due to not always closing it fully while sleeping; eye drops help with this and she doesn't mind receiving them. The estimated monthly cost for her care is around $5. All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.
Training & Support
Kelsey is working on her housetraining and is not yet leash-trained, though she is comfortable wearing a leash while in the yard. She does, however, ride very well in the car. She occasionally has a quiet howl if she hears a noise like a fire truck but doesn't react to other dogs.
