Jasper came to us with one of his eyes in bad shape. A local vet removed that problematic eye, and then Jasper, who is a very good boy, went to a foster home to recover. This fella might be short on sight, but he's long on personality! Want to take a hike in the woods? Jasper is all for it. A long drive? Yep, he settles right in and enjoys sticking his nose out the window. Even though Jasper is blind, he has a real zest for life and is thrilled to go on walks, dig around in the toybox, and sit pretty for treats. He is snuggly, sleeps like a log, and is just an all-around good dog with the spirit of a lion. Jasper makes good (if not perfect) mental maps of an area and can navigate furniture, doorways, and even stairs. Jasper is housetrained and does great in the crate (it's his safe spot), plus he is very food motivated. Jasper gets along with other dogs, although he has easily managed resource guarding. He isn't thrilled with kids, but we're working on positive exposure, which seems like it's paying off. Jasper does not do well with cats. If you are looking for an unconditional best friend and companion to join you on every adventure or just chill on the couch, Jasper is your boy. You are sure to love him.
Ideal Home
Jasper would thrive in a home ready for adventure, whether it's a hike in the woods or a long drive. He needs a home that understands he does not do well with cats and is not thrilled with children, although positive exposure is showing progress.
