About Tor
Tor is a handsome boy with a heart of gold! He was adopted as a pup, but unfortunately, his family's circumstances changed, and they had to return him. Back at his original home, Tor found himself in a tough spot with the resident dogs not tolerating him, leading to them ganging up on him. Thankfully, he's been in a loving foster home since April 2022, where he's blossomed and is now ready to find his forever family!
Ideal Home
Tor would thrive in a home with an experienced and consistent owner who can provide the guidance he needs to shine. He's a smart boy and eager to please, but he does have a bit of a mischievous streak and likes to think he can make the rules! He's not a beginner dog. Tor is standoffish with strangers and prefers his personal space, but he tolerates their presence if they stay outside his bubble. While Tor showed affection and good house manners to his previous family, including small children, his exuberance due to his size could unintentionally knock over little ones. He's not a face-kisser, except sometimes when riding in the car. He loves to load into the car for adventures and explorations, and a favorite activity is driving by fast-food restaurants, as it often means a tasty tidbit!
Ongoing Health
Tor's estimated birthday is February 2020, and he weighed 65 lbs at his vet visit in August 2025. He is up-to-date on core vaccinations and tested negative for heartworms in August 2025. He is on monthly heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Tor does well in the house and isn't a chewer or a mess-maker. He is very interested in animals he hasn't met and has a forward greeting style that can be intimidating. His play style is running with other dogs, and due to his enthusiastic greeting, he is supervised when meeting any new dog to ensure positive interactions. Once introduced appropriately, he does well and tends to ignore them. He tolerates being bossed around by the foster's 10 lb chihuahua. Tor isn't particularly interested in other dogs but is very curious. He has acclimated to certain of the foster's cats, particularly those who are dog-savvy, stay off the floor, and don't run. He initially rushes them and wants to investigate with his mouth and paws, so his foster used a muzzle and leash during introductions. He is not allowed loose with them unsupervised. He would do well in a home with no cats. Tor pulls strongly on the leash when not given sufficient exercise but is more amenable when allowed to burn off energy in the yard before a walk. He loves to run and would make a great companion for a runner or for long hikes, even over rough terrain. Tor is comfortable in a 48-inch crate and prefers a 54-inch crate. He never makes a mess or chews on his crate pad. When he gets excited, he'll dance in place with his front paws! He takes treats very gently.
