Hi, I'm Odie! I'm a handsome 4-year-old, 65-pound black Rottweiler mix with a heart full of love, just waiting for a safe and understanding home. My journey started a little rough, as I was found as a tiny puppy with my siblings. While my siblings found their forever families, I stayed with someone special, which led to a deep bond. This early experience has left me with some anxiety and fear, but I'm working hard every day to overcome it. I'm a playful, smart boy who loves my toys and knows commands like "sit," "speak," and "shake." I truly want to please, and I'm eager to learn with the right guidance.
Ideal Home
I'm looking for a patient, steady, and confident experienced dog owner who understands fear-based behaviors. Clear boundaries are important, but so is a gentle approach. I'm not the best fit for a timid handler or a first-time dog owner. A quiet household with an older, dog-savvy child (14+) would be ideal, and I'd prefer to be the only pet as I'm not good with cats. My anxiety can sometimes lead to protectiveness, so a home environment that helps me feel safe and relaxed is key. I also struggle with crates, so a home that can offer me more freedom, like access to just one room when I'm alone, would be wonderful.

I'm neutered and have been on Reconcile to help manage my anxiety, which has been beneficial.
Training & Support
My anxiety can manifest in various ways, sometimes leading to protectiveness or barking at strangers. I've had a single bite incident when my owner was pulling me away from the screen door while I was barking at the mailman, and I turned and bit her hand. I would benefit greatly from a home that can provide consistent training to help me learn to relax around new people and understand that I don't need to defend the household. I can get overwhelmed and sometimes get into things when left alone, so structured support and patience are essential.
