Meet Misty - a playful, curious, and sassy 10-year-old terrier mix who is ready for her forever home! Misty is an independent gal who loves her people and enjoys being part of the action. She might seem timid at first, but with a little encouragement like a game of fetch or some ear scratches, she warms up quickly. She loves to play fetch and enjoys leisurely walks, taking in all the new smells. Misty does well when left alone and would be a great companion for someone who wants to include her in their daily life.
Ideal Home
Misty would thrive in a home where she is included in daily activities. A securely fenced yard is ideal for her to safely explore and play fetch. Due to some weakness in her back legs, she will need to take it slow when adjusting to stairs and will require gentle encouragement to build her strength.
Ongoing Health
Misty has IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), which causes some weakness in her back legs. This doesn't stop her from enjoying playtime, especially fetch! She is a healthy, happy girl weighing in at 27 lbs and eats 3 small meals from a slow-feed bowl to help maintain a healthy weight and routine. She does shed a little and is not hypoallergenic. Misty had surgery to remove mammary tumors and a growth near her tail, all of which were thankfully benign.
Training & Support
Misty is leash-trained, crate-trained, and housebroken. She does not jump on furniture or people and recognizes her harness and leash, knowing when it's time for a walk. She is smart and learned basic commands quickly. Her new family will need to continue encouraging her moderate activities and help her build leg strength.
