Meet Ponderosa, or "Pondsy" as we affectionately call him! This handsome, almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix is around 60 pounds of pure sunshine, a dash of goofiness, and the "goodest boy energy" you could ask for. Pondsy has a soft, shiny black coat and big, warm brown eyes that will melt your heart. When he sees his favorite people, his signature "Pondsy Wiggle" kicks in, his tail wags furiously, and he's ready for belly rubs! He's a dog who makes every day an adventure, whether he's hiking, walking, or napping in the car. Pondsy is curious, silly, and always up for fun, making him an amazing hiking buddy and a total snuggle bug once the adventures are over. He absolutely adores other dogs and would do well in a home with a friendly, medium-energy female dog to romp with, or he'd be perfectly happy as your one and only.
Ideal Home
Pondsy is best suited for a home without cats, as they are too interesting for him! He's also looking for a home without small children, as they can be a bit overwhelming. Teenagers (13+) and adults, however, he adores and will bond deeply with. He could adapt to apartment living (first floor preferred) if he gets enough exercise and mental stimulation, but a yard would make him extra happy.
Ongoing Health
Pondsy has undergone leg surgery and has completed physical therapy. His back leg has a bit of unique character now, but it doesn't slow down his zoomies, playtime, or running!
Training & Support
Pondsy is a young pup at heart and is always ready for fun. He loves to play and would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training to harness his enthusiastic energy.

Transportation
We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue-run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travels safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area. A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs.
