Meet Norman!

Norman is a snuggly, four-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix from Durham, NC. He's a 73-pound "velvet hippo" with a heart as big as his frame and adorable tortilla chip-shaped ears. Norman is a gentle, goofy soul who lives for cuddles, comfy dog beds, and quality time with his people. He's a classic couch potato with a silly streak, often flopping onto his back for a grin. Walks, training games, and belly rubs are his favorites, and he shines with love and structure. His routine is flexible; he's happy with someone to nap near and a little mental stimulation daily.

Ideal Home

Norman would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a secure, fenced yard. He does best with experienced guardians who understand his needs. He is not a good fit for homes with small children. He is compatible with older, respectful children and some dogs, provided slow introductions are made.

Norman is in good health.

Training & Support

Norman is crate trained, house-trained, and knows several commands including "sit," "stay," "down," and "place." He is currently mastering "leave it." He responds well to positive reinforcement and consistency. His adoption includes four professional training sessions and a full month of behavioral guidance from a consultant to support his transition. Norman can be selective with dogs and new people and has shown reactivity in certain situations. While he has never displayed people-reactivity inside the home, he requires careful introductions and continued guidance outdoors.

Transporation

Norman is currently located in Durham, NC, and will remain with his current family until a suitable new home is found. He is open to a long-distance adoption.
