Abner is an 11-year-old, 69 lb. pup who is incredibly sweet and gentle. He came to us when his mom passed away, leaving behind many senior dogs who needed a second chance. After receiving the medical care he needed, including being neutered and having a dental, Abner recovered in a loving foster home. His foster mom affectionately called him "Fluffernutter" and had this to say about him: "Abner is such a quiet, sweet floof! He is happy to meet all my neighbors' dogs and ignores my kitty. Abner likes kids, too! When he met my neighbor's little girls, he got lots of hugs and kisses and didn't mind one bit. Abner is fully house-trained, takes treats very gently, sleeps through the night, and exhibits no separation anxiety. He trotted up and down a full flight of outdoor stairs at the park, but he doesn't do the stairs in my home, other than the few to get in and out of the house. He needs a little boost to get in the car. Abner enjoys going for walks and does a little happy prance when he sees the leash. I've walked him about a mile, and he does fine. He is a quiet pup, and I've only heard him bark once, and that was at the painters across the street. Abner likes to snuggle on the floor, but doesn't get up on furniture. He's slow to show his playful side, but it's adorable (see video)! He was with me for over a week before he picked up a toy and really sought attention. Such a cutie pie!"
