About Ryker

Ryker is an absolutely wonderful guy whose current home is no longer able to meet his evolving needs. Ryker spent his puppyhood in a breeding facility and was displaced with over 100 other dogs when the breeder sadly passed away. He was taken in by what we thought would be his forever home with one of our dedicated volunteers. Initially, he was fantastic with other dogs, and we had him neutered at 6 months old in hopes that this would continue. However, as Ryker has grown older, he has become intolerant of all other dogs, both male and female, and he really just wants to be with his people. He has never met a stranger and absolutely adores everyone he meets! With people, he has no issues whatsoever. He doesn't exhibit any resource guarding and is a truly mellow fellow. He's a little quirky in that he enjoys licking fingers and sometimes gently holds a hand in his mouth while playing, but he never bites down. It appears to be his unique way of showing affection. Ryker is completely crate trained and is also house-trained when kept on a consistent schedule. He walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys toys and chew bones. He does have a particular fondness for velour or Sherpa blankets, so we don't allow him to have those. He is protective of his home and has a deep, throaty bark to alert his current mom to any deer, squirrels, or turkeys that might be planning an "attack" on the homestead. He could definitely jump a 4.5-foot fence if he wanted to, but in his three years, he has never attempted to go over the one in his current home, which is 4.5 feet.

Ideal Home

Ryker would thrive in a home with no other dogs or cats. He truly wants to be the center of attention and needs a family that can provide him with that.

Ongoing Health

Ryker was neutered at 6 months old.
