About Monika

Monika is a sweet, approximately 1-year-old female Labrador mix who weighs around 26 lbs. She was rescued in Saltillo, Mexico, in March 2024, after being found wandering the streets with her mother and siblings. Initially very shy and fearful, Monika and her littermates have blossomed with lots of love, patience, and affection from their foster family. They are now playful, funny, and incredibly food-motivated. Monika is crate-trained and is doing well socializing with other dogs and people. She is a noble and submissive girl, but she is still a little shy and cautious. She'll need a patient and loving adopter to help her fully trust and show her wonderful personality.

Ideal Home

Monika would thrive in an active home with a family willing to give her at least three months to adjust and show her true personality. A fenced backyard is a must, and her ideal family will enjoy daily walks or hiking. Families should have an open understanding of the needs of rescued street animals and be prepared to provide protection and education. Previous experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, along with high tolerance and patience for a rescued pup.

Ongoing Health

Monika is spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm. She is up-to-date on her monthly Nexgard Spectra (fleas, ticks, and heartworm) preventive. She has a health certificate and vaccination booklet. Monika is NOT house-trained.

Training & Support

Monika is crate-trained and is socializing well, but she is not yet house-trained. Her foster family emphasizes that it's challenging to house-train every rescued pet due to the sheer number of animals they care for. With patience and consistency, she will learn.
