Taro is a handsome, intelligent, and energetic Australian Shepherd who is almost two years old. He absolutely adores other dogs and would love to have canine companions to share his days with. Taro is also incredibly devoted to his people and wants to be involved in everything you do, making him the perfect co-pilot for car rides and a great companion for school pickups.
Ideal Home
Taro thrives in a calm, confident household, ideally led by women. He would be happy in a single-woman home, a home with a mother and children, or any environment where he can form a close bond with his people and settle into a routine. He previously felt the need to protect his human siblings from their father, which has left a lasting impression. While Taro does like men, it takes him time to feel secure that everyone is safe. He is not a typical Aussie who prefers farm life; he grew up in a busy city and feels most confident when tethered to his handler. In the yard, he prefers to do his business quickly and return inside, letting you know he's ready by launching himself at the door. He does well with a dog-savvy cat but would not be a good fit for cats who are not prepared for his enthusiastic "investigations."
Ongoing Health
Taro is neutered, up-to-date with his vaccines, and microchipped. He is house-trained but has had occasional crate accidents when he gets overly excited, particularly when his foster mom returns home.
Training & Support
Taro can be protective if he feels his handler isn't in control, but with a confident and steady leader, he relaxes and becomes a happy adventure buddy.
