Meet Onyx, a delightful 7-year-old Chi Dachshund mix who weighs around 20lbs. This sweet girl has a calm and gentle spirit, and her charming personality is sure to bring a smile to your face every day. Onyx is spayed, vaccinated, and up-to-date on all her preventatives, making her ready to find the loving home she truly deserves.
Onyx's journey likely hasn't been the easiest. She was rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Houston, but since then, she's been proving just how special she is. Currently, she's being fostered in San Antonio.
Ideal Home
Onyx is an older lady with a touch of arthritis, so she thrives on a slower pace. She would be happiest in a household with a semi-active to low activity level, where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of opportunities for cozy relaxation. While she loves a good walk and will happily trot along, she'll let you know when she's ready to settle in for some much-deserved neck scratches, belly rubs, and a nap. She has done well with respectful children ages 7–12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.
Ongoing Health
Onyx has a bit of arthritis, which is why a slower pace is ideal for her. She is spayed, vaccinated, and up-to-date on all her preventatives.
Training & Support
Onyx is house-trained and chooses to sleep in her crate at night. She can be crated for up to 10 hours if needed. She does not resource guard, shows no food aggression, and can be trusted to roam the house freely without being destructive. While she enjoys playing with toys, she can get a little excited on leash when meeting new dog friends.
