About Groundhog the Boy with a Happy Tongue

Meet Groundhog, a delightful boy who is 10% tongue, 90% happy, and 100% ready to be your new best friend! He's a social butterfly who thinks every human he meets is a friend he hasn't boogied for yet. Groundhog is the ultimate velcro companion who lives for connection, his favorite thing in the world is to lean his whole weight into you and bury his head in your lap. You can see his signature "Booty Boogie" dance in action in his video!

Groundhog is a handsome Pitbull mix, weighing in at a sturdy 47 lbs. He's a big dog with an even bigger heart, small enough to believe he's a lap dog. His most prominent feature is his massive, happy pink tongue that is constantly unfurled, showcasing his pure joy. When it comes to Groundhog, the forecast is always tongues out!

Groundhog is currently thriving in a loving foster home with an older dog, a small dog, and a cat. His foster family says his absolute best quality is his incredible goofiness; he's a total comedian who keeps everyone laughing. He's super affectionate, loves to hang out, and soaks up every head rub he can get. He's a sensitive, sweet gentleman who tackles every day with a wagging tail and a heart full of joy!

Groundhog is a friend to all dogs, regardless of size. He has a sweet, thoughtful way of making friends, sometimes pausing to "read the room." He's not a high-octane wrestler, preferring chill vibes, and would be best paired with a low to medium energy dog. However, he's also perfectly happy to be your one and only star.

Regarding feline friends, Groundhog is a bit shy. We can arrange a kitty slumber party to see if he'd be willing to share a spot on the couch with a cat.

Ideal Home

Groundhog's dream home includes a fenced-in yard where he can zoom, "boogie," and sunbathe. He's looking for a family that understands that the best things in life are worth a little extra love and patience.

Ongoing Health

All vetting, DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and a microchip with free lifetime registration are included.

Training & Support

Groundhog is being assessed and has behavior modification and individualized plans created by on-staff trainers to help prepare him for his future family. This includes crate training, potty training, and leash walking. Fosters are able to attend group training and socialization playgroups.
