Alder

Alder is a handsome 3-year-old Pyrenean Shepherd mix who came to us from Texas. He's a shy but friendly gentleman who is eager to please and craves affection, even if he's not quite sure how to express his excitement yet. We suspect he'll master the Pyr paw in no time!

Ideal Home

Alder would do best in a home with a calmer, playful dog who can help him learn how to interact with canine friends. He's not sure how to play with dogs yet but seems interested. He would also be comfortable in a home with children who are past the "screeching years." While a fenced yard would be ideal, Alder walks well on a leash, making a home without one acceptable as long as he gets daily walks. He is not a dog that can be left to wander in a backyard and is unlikely to stay close to home if allowed outside unsupervised.

Ongoing Health

Alder has no known ongoing health issues.

Training & Support

Alder can be a bit protective of his food, a likely remnant from his time as a stray. He will need to be fed separately from other dogs. With some decompression time and consistent positive reinforcement, Alder is sure to blossom.
