About Gary

Gary is a charming 5-year-old, 55-pound neutered male Lab mix with a beautiful black coat. He was found as a stray and initially experienced some kennel stress, but with increased exercise and positive reinforcement, he blossomed into a happy and playful companion. Gary is a true "velcro pup," always wanting to be near his people, and he settled into his foster home with ease. He's completely housetrained and is happy to sleep in his own bed but wouldn't mind snuggling with you if invited.

Gary enjoys a gentle morning stroll to explore the world and loves an evening game of fetch – it's his absolute favorite activity! He greets everyone with affection and is incredibly eager to please, making him a fast learner. While he's getting better at being left alone for short periods, he's still learning that not every open door is an invitation to explore. Gary can be a bit leash reactive when he feels vulnerable, and he might bark at delivery people, but with continued socialization and training, he's sure to gain confidence. He's already a pro at tricks and would likely excel in activities like agility. Gary is also a calm and quiet car rider and tolerates baths and blow dryers like a champ. He truly shines when he's connecting with his family.

Ideal Home

Gary would thrive in a home where he receives daily fetch sessions, has a yard to play in, and isn't left alone for long periods. He needs a family that will welcome him with open arms, shower him with attention, love, and plenty of exercise. Due to his unknown history, we don't recommend a home with small children or cats.

Ongoing Health

Gary received a Cytopoint injection and antibiotics for a bacterial skin infection, which has significantly improved. He is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and tested negative for heartworm. He is currently on a monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventative.

Training & Support

Gary is a quick learner and is highly food-motivated. He is working on building confidence when encountering new people and situations, like delivery personnel, and can be leash reactive. Consistent training and socialization will be key to his continued growth.
