Velma is a special pup who definitely has her own personality. Her eyes are two different colors - tops are white, bottoms are brown - which gives her a distinct look. She is needy, very needy. She will be up in your face and greeting you the second you walk in the door. She thinks she is a lap dog, especially if you let her. She will calm down after a few minutes but still prefers to lay next you as much as possible. Velma is crate trained during the day and at night, although the last few months she has slept on her own bed on the floor at night and has been confined to the kitchen when we leave. She is not a chewer but sometimes has pee accidents when left out; when in the crate she has no accidents. Velma has been around other dogs and cats her whole life. She is great with other dogs and cats, sometimes she will chase the cats and try to play with them but listens when told to knock it off. Velma does not bark inside much at all, she will bark outside if someone walks by or a delivery comes etc. She is skittish and nervous. Velma shakes the second she is told to knock it off or stop doing something. Velma loves to be outside, especially when it’s nice out. She also loves a good rainstorm- you can find her sitting in the pouring rain refusing to come inside. Velma is a little under 6 years old and was adopted from us in 2020. She is unfortunately being returned because her previous home now has three children under 4 years old, and Velma is not coping well.
Ideal Home
Velma would do best in a home with older or no children, and adults only. A low commotion home where she can be lazy and relax as much as possible would be ideal.

Training & Support
Velma is crate trained and has had no accidents when crated. She has had occasional accidents when left out, so confinement to the kitchen or crate when unsupervised is recommended. She can be a bit skittish and nervous and shakes when told to stop something. She does listen when told to stop chasing the cats, even though she likes to play with them.
