Penny is a gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, weighing approximately 50 lbs, and is the sweetest girl! She's about 1 year and 3 months old and was found in a cemetery in January 2026, fending for herself with many other dogs. Despite her tough start, Penny is incredibly loving and trusts people deeply, even after being abandoned. She is active, loves to romp and play, and especially enjoys tug-of-war with toys and other dogs. Penny can be a little shy initially but quickly warms up to become a loyal best friend. She's also gentle and enjoys playing with pigs. While she's an escape artist who loves to explore, she's also a good girl who will return to the door to be let back in. She's mostly house-trained but would benefit from consistent reinforcement. Penny loves car rides and walks well on a leash, though she'll need a bit more practice to perfect it. Her recall is great once she's familiar with an area.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in an active home with a family looking for a shadow and adventure companion. A home with another active dog would be ideal for her to play with and tire each other out.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and de-wormer. She tested heartworm positive and has received a 30-day course of antibiotics. She will need to remain on heartworm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested afterward. She will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
Training & Support
Penny is mostly house-trained and would benefit from consistency to master it 100%. She walks well on a leash but will need a bit more work to become perfect. She is an escape artist and has previously climbed a 4-foot fence.
