Charlie is an 85–90 pound, approximately 1½-year-old, neutered Black Mouth Cur/Lab mix who was left at a shelter and sadly ended up on the euthanasia list due to lack of space. Thankfully, he was given a second chance and is now ready to find his forever home. This sweet, energetic boy has a fun-loving, playful personality and absolutely loves playing ball. He’ll happily chase and return any ball for another throw—except tennis balls! Those are his favorite, and he enjoys a good game of keep-away with them. He is a very smart boy and already knows several commands, including heel, sit, come, stay, off (no jumping), and nice/gentle when taking treats. He is still working on “down.” Charlie rides well in the car and does not struggle with anxiety. He tends to prefer female dogs over males.
Ideal Home
Charlie would do best in a home with teenage children or adults, as he may accidentally knock over small kids in his excitement. He would thrive with an active single person, couple, or family who enjoys outdoor adventures. He would make an excellent hiking or running partner. NO ties outs, and NO electric fences. His high energy level may be a bit much for a feline companion, so a home without cats is preferred.
Ongoing Health
Charlie is up to date on vaccinations and is heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Charlie is crate trained and fully potty trained. He is still working on the "down" command. With his intelligence and eagerness to learn, he could easily excel in advanced training, agility, or even protection work.
