Meet Penny, a vibrant 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix who is brimming with affection and ready for her forever home! Penny is a playful, outgoing girl with a big heart, always eager for her next adventure or a good cuddle session. She thrives when she's active and engaged, and her curious nature means she's always exploring the world around her. Penny is incredibly bonded with her people and loves nothing more than to be by their side, offering snuggles and soulful gazes. While she has experienced past trauma and can be sensitive, her foster family has seen her blossom with calm, consistent care. With patience and understanding, Penny will undoubtedly become a confident, loyal, and deeply devoted companion.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in an active home where she can receive consistent mental and physical stimulation through walks, hikes, or other adventures. She would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy positively. Due to her prey-driven behavior observed outdoors, a cat-free home is recommended. She also prefers to be the only pet to avoid any potential conflicts with smaller or more timid dogs, as she can be a bit overzealous in play.
Ongoing Health
Penny is a spayed female and is up-to-date on all vaccinations. She is house-trained and has been managed for resource guarding around food and high-value items with other dogs, which has shown great progress in her foster home.
Training & Support
Penny is still learning dog social etiquette and can sometimes be too strong with other dogs. She is also still getting comfortable with separation and may whine or bark when left alone, as she prefers to be close to her people. She has a soft spot for chewing on dog beds when bored, so providing appropriate chew toys will be helpful. Penny is eager to please and ready to learn, but she needs a patient adopter who will go at her pace and provide her with structure and reassurance.
