Essex

Essex is as close to a Cockapoo as they come, according to his DNA! This handsome fellow is approximately 5 years old and weighs around 10 lbs. He's a smart and playful pup who can amuse himself for hours with his toys and loves to race around the yard. Essex also enjoys playing with other dogs, though he can be a bit bossy and may do best as an only dog or with a very laid-back canine companion. He walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does like to occasionally mark other dogs' beds, so an experienced owner who understands his alpha tendencies would be ideal. Essex was quite matted when rescued and was shaved down, but his beautiful coat is filling out nicely now.

Ideal Home

Essex would be a great companion for someone older. He would do best as an only dog or with one other laid-back companion. We do not adopt to anyone with children under the age of 8 years.

Ongoing Health

Essex had a rough start and was very matted, requiring him to be shaved down to the skin. His coat is now growing back beautifully. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (including Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza), and on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas/ticks, and parasites.

Training & Support

Essex is mostly house-trained but does occasionally mark other dogs' beds. He is described as a very precocious and alpha little dog, so he needs an experienced owner to guide him.
