About Dani

Meet Dani!

This sweet, soulful four-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix is ready to find her forever home. Dani, a 52-pound bundle of love, sports a sleek black coat with charming white accents. She was rescued from the streets of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she faced significant medical challenges as a pup. Thankfully, with dedicated care, she not only recovered but blossomed into the deeply affectionate and loyal companion she is today. You might notice small scars on her paws, a gentle reminder of her past, but her spirit shines with warmth and resilience.

Dani is an incredibly loving companion who forms deep emotional bonds with her people. She's a bed-sharer, happily curling up close and sometimes emitting soft, contented "purrs." She loves to stay near her favorite humans, following them from room to room, always wanting to be part of the action. Dani is wonderfully intuitive and offers comfort with gentle licks, especially when she senses you're feeling down. She enjoys a good game of tug, peaceful walks, and knows several commands, including sit, stay, wait, and come. Having worked with a humane trainer, she thrives with positive reinforcement, structure, and clear guidance. She is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Importantly, she is respectful in the home and doesn't engage in destructive chewing.

Ideal Home

Dani needs to be the only pet in her home due to fear-based reactivity towards other dogs. She can be a bit wary in new situations or with new people, especially some men, and takes time to warm up. Thoughtful introductions are key; when she feels safe and comfortable, she often relaxes, may engage in play, and then settles into ignoring new people. To ensure her comfort, unexpected visitors or service calls should be managed in a way that minimizes her stress, as she may bark if not given proper time to adjust. An experienced and confident pet parent is ideal, someone who can provide a calm, caring environment with a consistent routine. A fenced yard in a quieter setting would be a great asset for her. She'd also love a home where someone works from home, as she's happy to keep you company.

Ongoing Health

Dani has fully recovered from her past medical challenges and carries no ongoing health concerns. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Training & Support

Dani has been extensively trained using positive reinforcement and thrives with structure and clear guidance. She is house-trained and respectful in the home, not engaging in destructive behaviors. While she is not a beginner's dog, with a steady hand and a tender heart, she makes a remarkable companion.
