About Bethany (URGENT)
Meet Bethany!
Bethany is truly the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet, and she is more than ready to find the forever home she has been waiting for. Once a devoted mama, she is now stepping into a new chapter as a full-time cuddle bug and loyal companion. Bethany is around four years old and weighs about 45 pounds, making her the perfect medium size. She has an adorable low-rider build with a short, sturdy frame that only adds to her charm. While we cannot confirm her breed without a DNA test, we suspect she may be a bulldog and bully breed mix. Bethany was found as a stray in early April, and while we do not know much about her past, we do know that she is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. She greets everyone like a long-lost best friend and loves to lean into full-body hugs, wiggling from nose to tail in the most endearing way. She has a constant, happy wag and a personality that naturally brings joy to everyone around her. As a former mama, she does have a bit of a confident, “in charge” personality, but overall gets along with everyone.
Ideal Home
Bethany has done well with other dogs in the shelter environment and has received nothing but positive feedback from staff. While her exposure to children is limited, we believe she could do well in a home with kids given slow and respectful introductions. She has also been cat tested and did well during that interaction. We even have video footage available. As with any rescue dog, we always recommend slow and monitored introductions in a home setting. Bethany will need guidance as she transitions into a home environment, including support with routine and basic training, but she is eager to learn and form a strong bond with her person. She would do best in a home that offers structure, consistency, and plenty of love. Frequent potty breaks, daily exercise, and mental enrichment will help her adjust and thrive. A fenced yard would be ideal, but apartments or condos will be considered on a case-by-case basis if her exercise needs can be met.
Ongoing Health
Bethany is heartworm positive, which is a common and treatable condition that is not contagious. She has begun the shelter’s slow-kill protocol. We strongly encourage adopters to research both slow- and fast-kill treatment options and to speak with their veterinarian about the best path forward. Bethany is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and on monthly preventatives.
