Dax is a 4-year-old neutered male silver Labrador with a playful spirit, a whole lot of love to give, and an inspiring commitment to living his healthiest life. Weighing about 90 pounds, Dax is on a successful weight-loss journey and has already made great progress with regular exercise, proper nutrition, and the support of his foster family. Like many Labs, he's full of energy, curiosity, and affection, but what really sets Dax apart is just how deeply he bonds with his people. He's the kind of dog who wants to be right in the middle of whatever you're doing, happily soaking up attention and returning it.
Dax came into foster care after being relinquished due to chronic allergies. The good news is that his allergies have improved significantly with consistent care. He's currently doing well on a daily medication (Apoquel) along with topical therapies, and while he will likely need lifelong management, he's feeling much more comfortable these days. He also has color dilution alopecia, which means his coat looks a little different than a typical Labrador, but it just adds to his unique charm. Personality-wise, Dax is a social butterfly. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has even proven to be cat-friendly. He loves to play, whether that's with his furry friends or his humans, and would thrive in a home that can match his enthusiasm for life. He's an active guy who enjoys walks and does especially well using a Gentle Leader, making outings both fun and manageable. Dax already knows some basic commands such as sit and down, and while he's still working on his manners, he's eager to learn. His previous family shared that he did great with children. At the end of the day, Dax is simply a sweetheart. He's affectionate, a little nosy, loves being the center of attention, and is always ready for his next adventure.
