Luther

Luther is a sweet, silly, high-energy 1-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a personality that will keep you smiling. With his bouncy floppy ears and playful spirit, he's ready to find a forever home that will enjoy both his zoomies and his snuggles. He enjoys a good chase and plays respectfully with other dogs, even rolling onto his back in a submissive gesture if he meets a more dominant dog. After playtime, he settles nicely and seeks attention from his humans. He's been gentle and loving with children as young as 6, and has shown a calm demeanor when meeting cats, simply sniffing them and then ignoring them. Luther is house-trained and sleeps in his crate, settling within a few minutes. He's not yet ready to be left loose in the house as he's still learning what is and isn't a toy. He doesn't guard food or toys and eats comfortably around other dogs. Luther has a fun, happy puppy energy and enjoys fetch and tug. A mile walk or 10 minutes of fetch is usually enough to help him settle nicely. While he would thrive in an active home, he also understands how to relax once his exercise needs are met. He doesn't require another dog in the home but would benefit from continued socialization if he is the only dog. He seeks attention, loves pets, and will happily give plenty of kisses. He melts for belly scratches and warms up quickly to strangers with gentle reassurance. In the car, he's learning confidence but enjoys looking out the window and settles nicely with his bed.

Ideal Home

Luther would do well in many types of homes, apartment or house, as long as he receives regular exercise and continued guidance. A backyard would be a bonus for zoomies, but daily walks and playtime are just as great. He doesn't mind if he's the only dog or has canine siblings, but he'll always choose his humans first.

Luther is neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

Training & Support

Luther is house-trained and sleeps in his crate, settling within a few minutes. He is still learning what is and isn't a toy, so he is not ready to be left loose in the house unsupervised. He can be somewhat barky on leash when seeing other dogs but walks beautifully side-by-side with a canine companion, and this can continue to improve with training. He is still learning confidence getting in and out of the car.

Transporation

Luther is currently located in Houston, Texas. He can transport to an adopter once approved. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
