Loki is a 6.5-month-old, male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued from the woods with his mom and littermates and has grown up loved and cared for. Loki is the brave, bold, and endlessly entertaining ringleader of his litter, always the first to explore and announce his presence with confidence and curiosity. He loves to climb, play keep-away with his favorite toys, and can even coax his family out of naps for playtime! While he still has plenty of playful energy, Loki is also beginning to settle into an incredible companion. He is potty trained, though a few accidents may happen as he adjusts to a new routine. Loki can be a little hesitant with new experiences at first, but his curiosity quickly wins out. He’s a food-motivated boy who’s not afraid to get to the front of the line! Despite his rambunctious side, Loki has an incredibly sweet and cuddly nature, transforming into the perfect lap buddy after a day of adventures. He loves people and other dogs and brings joy wherever he goes, greeting everyone with affection. Loki has some experience with crates and children and is working on his leash skills and basic obedience.
Ideal Home
Loki is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature. He thrives with consistent positive reinforcement, socialization, and continued leash practice. Because Loki benefits greatly from a canine role model, we prefer homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor him. If a home doesn't have another dog, a strong plan for continued socialization through training classes, daycare, or playdates is needed. Loki also prefers a home where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, as he needs regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
Loki is potty trained but may have occasional accidents as he adjusts to a new home. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is crucial for building his lifelong confidence.
