Donegal

Donegal is a charming 10-year-old, 13-pound gentleman who came to us as a stray. After a successful "Frosted Fling" to learn more about him in a home setting, it was clear he was meant to stay. He's now in a long-term foster home, patiently waiting for his forever family to find him.

Donegal is incredibly adaptable. While he may be partially deaf and blind, he navigates his environment with confidence, using his keen sense of smell to find his way and recognize loved ones. Finger snaps are a helpful cue for him. He's a devoted shadow when you're home, always wanting to be near, but he's also content to relax in his bed for up to four hours when you're away, showing no signs of separation anxiety.

His favorite things include:

• Being held like a baby for nightly cuddles – he knows the routine and waits by the nightstand!
• Gazing at his reflection, he seems to enjoy admiring himself.
• Making new friends! He's a little shy at first but quickly leans in for pets and enjoys attention from people of all ages. He's also shown he can happily ignore other dogs.
• Taking slow, sniff-filled strolls around the neighborhood.
• Enjoying the breeze from a fan, which might remind him of his favorite sea breezes.

Donegal would love a companion who appreciates a low-key presence and a comfy bed.

Ongoing Health

Donegal may have some vision and hearing impairment, but he has adapted wonderfully.

Training & Support

Donegal is already a well-adjusted companion. He responds well to finger snaps for redirection and enjoys routine.
