Hi, I'm Emma! I came into the rescue feeling emaciated, exhausted, and scared, but the wonderful people at Seniors Rock were incredibly patient with me. Thanks to them, I've doubled my weight and my foster mom says I'll never go hungry again – and she's right! This rescue life is awesome! I get two meals a day and still get very excited about mealtime; it's my favorite hobby.
They also discovered I have diabetes. My blood sugar was over 500 when I arrived, which explained why I was unbelievably thirsty and couldn't hold my pee. Now, I'm on a schedule of insulin twice a day with my meals. I don't even notice the pokes because I'm so eager to eat! My other hobbies include playing with other dogs and cats, chewing on bones, running around outside, sunbathing, going for walks, snuggling, and play-fighting with my foster dad. I'm still learning how to be a dog and would love a patient family with another dog who can help teach me. I lost so much time at the beginning of my life and am just now discovering all these wonderful things! I do bark at strangers, but it's only to protect my family. Once my mom hands me to someone, I know they must be good people because she wouldn't entrust me to just anyone! I'll be waiting for my forever family and am so excited to meet you!
Ideal Home
Emma would do best with a family that understands the process of diabetes in animals. She is still working on potty training and has occasional accidents.
Ongoing Health
Emma has diabetes and requires insulin injections twice a day with meals. She can still have episodes of high blood sugar that cause increased urination. Emma will be spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, and receive all age-appropriate vaccines. (Date of medical treatment 6-25-2026).
Training & Support
Emma is still learning how to be a dog and would benefit from a patient home with another dog to help teach her. She barks at strangers but warms up quickly once introduced by her trusted humans.
