Meet Briar! This 3-month-old, 12 lb Husky mix is a little miracle who wandered out of the forests of Northern Manitoba. After a bath and some time to settle into foster care, she's thriving and ready to find her forever family. Briar has been described as the perfect puppy – adorable, smart, and affectionate. She's already mastered potty training, learned to sit, and understands that the cat is off-limits (though she may have tried to swipe a snack from the table once, she hasn't done it since being corrected!). Crate training is going well, and she usually settles down after a few minutes, sleeping through the night. Briar is playful, confident, and adventurous, always eager to explore but checks in with her handler. She walks nicely on a leash without pulling too far ahead. While she might take a moment to figure out new things, a little encouragement and a few treats help her tackle challenges with confidence.
Ideal Home
As a suspected Husky/Shepherd mix, Briar is likely to grow into a large, energetic dog. She will thrive with an active family committed to providing plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation, such as a fenced yard or regular adventures. Be prepared for shedding, especially during seasonal changes, and regular brushing will be essential, with occasional grooming appointments recommended.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Briar is already doing well with potty training and crate training. She has learned to sit on command. While she hasn't tried to steal food again after being corrected, continued consistency is recommended. She is learning about socialization with dogs and cats. As a condition of adoption, her new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class.
