Meet Menchie, also known as Spike! This adorable little guy is about 3 years old and weighs less than 7 pounds. He's a loving lap dog who was once a daddy to a litter of puppies. Spike is a bit shy at first and needs a patient owner who will give him a few days to settle in and warm up. Once he's comfortable, he's a playful and affectionate companion who loves his people and enjoys going on adventures. He's got a fun, silly mohawk and is a little puff of black fur! Spike is working on his house-training and has done well with a belly band during his transition. Due to his small size, an adult-only home is recommended.
Ideal Home
An adult-only home where someone is home more often or can take him on adventures. Patience is key as he takes a minute to warm up in a new environment.
Ongoing Health
Menchie has hip dysplasia in one hip. The plan is to have FHO surgery performed on the affected hip to significantly improve his quality of life. Ideally, he will be in his forever home and settled before undergoing the procedure at our vet in Arlington, WA. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Menchie is working on house-training and has benefited from the use of a belly band. He is expected to fully adjust with continued routine and support. Remember the 3-3-3 rule for helping rescue dogs settle into their new homes: the first three days for adjusting, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including a collar, leash, toys, and chews.
