Lucy is a delightful 5-year-old, 31 lb Australian Cattle Dog who is ready to find her forever family! She's a smaller-sized Blue Heeler with a big personality and a heart full of love to give. Lucy was rescued from a situation where she was living on a chain, but thanks to Kind Spirits Rescue Dogs Pet Lifeline, she's now in a loving foster home in Texas, learning what it feels like to be included and cherished.
Lucy is loyal, smart, and observant, with a playful spirit and a touch of bossiness that's typical of her breed. She's a champion at fetch and surprisingly mellow and easy-going. While she's generally good with most dogs, she can be a little opinionated and might give a playful nip at the heels of dogs she doesn't click with – a true Heeler trait! She's been great with cats so far and is curious but cautious around very small dogs. Lucy walks nicely in public and is a fantastic car rider. She's also microchipped, spayed, healthy, and up-to-date on all her vaccinations and preventions.
Ideal Home
Lucy would do best with a family who understands and appreciates the unique qualities of herding breeds. She can be a bit timid with new people and needs a little time to warm up, so a patient and understanding environment is key. Typical Heeler behavior includes supervising household activities and following her people from room to room – and she's known for her classic, dramatic side-eye!
Ongoing Health
Lucy is spayed, microchipped, healthy, and up-to-date on all her vaccines and preventions.
Training & Support
Lucy is potty trained, crate trained (though she prefers to be near you!), and leash trained. She loves affection but isn't needy. Her foster family has noted she can be a little bossy with some dogs and may nibble at their heels if she doesn't like them. She's also a bit quirky around very small dogs.
