Mama Kay is a 2-year-old, spayed female weighing around 50 lbs. She's a charming mix of Great Pyrenees, Basset Hound, and Cattle Dog, and after successfully raising her Alpha Guardian litter, she's ready to find her own forever family. Mama Kay is a remarkably sweet girl who adores both people and other pets. True to her noble breeding, she takes her role as an "intruder deterrent" very seriously, making her a fantastic alarm system for any home. While she has medium energy, she thoroughly enjoys playing and romping with an active dog of similar size.
Ideal Home
Mama Kay thrives in a home with a yard where she can safely patrol and rest in her "sentry position." She is not suited for apartment living or homes in densely populated neighborhoods. While she barks at cats, it's more of a vocal announcement than aggression, and she wouldn't harm them.
Ongoing Health
Mama Kay is in good health and has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Mama Kay is a natural barker – it's in her DNA! She loves to announce arrivals and activity, and while she excels at this job, she is not easily dissuaded from her duties. She is well-behaved with her potty habits, signaling when she needs to go outside. Crate training has been a bit of a mixed experience; while she willingly rests in her crate with a comfy bed, she can be resistant to being crated if she knows she'll be closed in. She doesn't typically howl or bark when left alone in a crate, but due to her intelligence and cleverness, using a crate when she's left alone for extended periods is recommended.
