Callahan is a 40lb mixed breed (likely Heeler/Kelpie/Shepherd) who is looking for his perfect match! He's an exceptional hiking partner with great recall, a good nose, and a calm, steady rhythm on acreage or in the woods. He is wonderful with adults and older kids, and while he's not a fan of babies and toddlers, he'll simply give a warning and remove himself to his bed, a spare room, or outside. Callahan has lived comfortably with his brother and does well with other dogs. He enjoys herding-style play, reads other dogs well, and settles nicely once the excitement is over. Indoors, he's clean, quiet, and gravitates toward his safe spots. He was crate-trained as a puppy and may settle well back into that structure. He's social in familiar spaces, good with visitors, and easygoing at gatherings. Car rides are fun for him, but he tolerates a harness and leash rather than being a polished sidewalk-walking dog; he's built for off-trail exploring, not city paths. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and ready for placement.
Ideal Home
Callahan would thrive in a home with adults or families with older children who appreciate an active lifestyle with hiking, exploring, or shed hunting. He's a sensitive dog who manages his own space well and deserves a home that matches who he is – steady, outdoorsy, and low-pressure.
Ongoing Health
Callahan is neutered and fully vaccinated and ready for placement.
Training & Support
Callahan is a clean and quiet dog indoors, and he was crate-trained as a puppy, which may be a helpful structure for him. While he tolerates a harness and leash, he is not a polished sidewalk walker and is better suited for off-trail adventures.
