About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound and retriever mix who was rescued from the streets and then saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. He was given the nickname "Buddy" by his rescuers. Comet is a sweet, affectionate, and cuddly boy who loves to please and is eager to be by your side. He has a high, but not overbearing, energy level and enjoys a good zoomie session! Comet has a balanced play style and has shown no food aggression with other dogs. He is adaptable and resilient, ready to find his forever family.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog to be his sibling for snuggling and playing. He has lived with indoor cats and children and does well with them. However, due to his herding instinct, a home with children aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues, is recommended. Comet can be a bit wary of men, but with patience and consistency, he will warm up, especially since he adores his foster dad.

Ongoing Health

Comet has no known health conditions.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps soundly in his kennel at night without whining and does not pull on the leash. He has had no accidents in the house since being in foster care and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Comet does not appear to have separation anxiety, but he is crated when unsupervised as he has a tendency to "taste test" things. He is eager to please and easy to train, not requiring harsh corrections.
