Chido is a charming boy who has come a long way from the streets outside of Houston to a snuggly bed inside your home. Despite his past, Chido continues to put faith into people and other animals. His love for cats alone speaks volumes about his gentle nature. He makes friends very easily, with animals and people alike. Chido loves to spend most days with a short walk, playing with toys, and sleeping. He is gentle with children, cats, and most dogs. Chido is dog selective, but as long as other dogs aren’t trying to make him submit or jumping all over him, they will get along just fine. He is nearly 4 years old and weighs a healthy 63 lbs. He is an American Bulldog and possible Boxer mix.
Ideal Home
Chido deserves a patient household. Someone that either works from home or is retired to chill with, as he suffers from separation anxiety. A relaxed companion to hang with would be ideal for sweet, charming Chido. Chido is an inside-the-home companion, not an outside dog.
Ongoing Health
Chido is heartworm positive and is on slow-kill medication (Heartguard), which is a low-cost monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor the heartworms. Chido also suffers from occasional hip arthritis, which makes it hard for him initially to get around. This hasn't happened in recent months and has only occurred twice since he's been in foster care. When it does occur, a quick hip massage and rest are encouraged. His X-rays showed signs of inflammation, but nothing was broken or previously broken. Aside from the heartworm diagnosis, Chido is a healthy and loving companion.
Training & Support
Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. Noise like thunder, lightning, and fireworks can frighten him, and he will need comforting during these times. As long as he knows you’re by his side, he quickly calms down.
