About Teddy

Teddy is approximately 3.5 years old and weighs 10 lbs. His DNA test shows him to be a mix of Chihuahua, Yorkie, Bichon, and three other breeds. When he was rescued, he was found in a matted condition and had to be shaved down. His coat has since grown back beautifully, and he is a very handsome boy who will require regular grooming. Teddy also had mature cataracts in both eyes, but thankfully, he underwent successful cataract surgery and is now seeing clearly after a period of healing with eye medication.

Teddy adores being a lap dog and will eagerly hop onto his foster's lap for cuddles. He generally gets along well with other dogs, but can be overwhelmed by overly active dogs. He also prefers to eat his meals without any interruptions and may become protective of his food if other dogs approach. For this reason, we believe he would do best as an only dog or with a calm, older canine companion. He is fairly well-house trained and walks nicely on a leash. He also loves car rides and is sure to be a wonderful companion.

Ideal Home

Teddy would thrive in a home as an only dog or with an older, quieter companion dog. We do not adopt to homes with children under the age of 8, and he requires experienced dog owners.

Ongoing Health

Teddy has had successful cataract surgery on both eyes and is now seeing well. He is currently on eye medication to aid his healing.

Training & Support

Teddy is fairly well-house trained but not perfect. He is protective of his food and may snap if other dogs try to eat from his bowl. We recommend he be fed separately. He walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides.
