A little about them
Butterscotch is a 4-year-old, 9-pound Miniature Poodle with a gentle, affectionate personality. This former mill dog momma is shy with new people but blossoms into a loving velcro dog once she feels comfortable. She enjoys walks, cuddling, car rides, and being close to her person.
Ideal Home
Butterscotch would thrive with a calm individual, couple, or family with teenagers or older children. A quiet rural area, small town, or peaceful subdivision would suit her best. She is comfortable with cats and dogs but prefers brief greetings rather than play. She can live in an apartment, condo, semi-detached, or detached home and enjoys three to four short walks each day.
Ongoing Health
Butterscotch is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She recently had several dental extractions and is recovering well; regular yearly dental cleanings will be needed. She is currently being treated for an ear infection and takes her medication well. She also has small, tight hind claws that require awareness during nail trims. Regular grooming every 6–8 weeks and frequent brushing are important because her coat mats easily.
Training & Support
Butterscotch is quiet, cooperative, and gentle. She is improving with leash walking and is learning stay, sit, and come, though progress is gradual. She has not had formal obedience training and would benefit from it in her forever home. She has had some house accidents and has not yet developed reliable signals for going outside, so a consistent outdoor routine will be important. She sleeps well in her crate overnight but does not willingly enter it and may vocalize when crated during the day. A home with someone around more during the day would suit her well.
