About Lalo
Lalo is a 4-year-old, 10-pound male Chihuahua mix from Alabama. He is a cute, bold, affectionate, and curious little dog who approaches life with enthusiasm. He loves being involved in whatever's going on, but also settles well at home, happily relaxing near his person or people.
Walks are social outings for Lalo — he loves meeting new people in the street or on the subway.
He's a true velcro dog at heart, happiest when included in everyday life and shared playtime. He thrives on companionship and enrichment, but has shown he can settle and relax when left alone for a few hours.
Lalo is a smart, adaptable, and highly trainable little dog who quickly learned "sit," "down," food waiting, and "stay." He loves his meals and never misses breakfast or dinner. While he enjoys food rewards, he is often just as motivated by attention, praise, and affection.
Lalo is housetrained. He uses pee pads overnight if really needed, but much prefers to do his business outside. He has become increasingly communicative about signalling when he would like to go out.
Lalo has adapted well to city life. He loves exploring the world on walks and particularly enjoys having time to sniff, observe, and investigate new environments. These outings provide as much mental enrichment as physical exercise for him. He generally stays close to his person on leash and, when something catches his attention, may stop to observe before happily continuing on his way.
Lalo is very interested in other dogs and does well with little dogs his size who want to engage and play with him. He can get a bit overexcited in the moment, and bigger dogs tend to amp him up more, though he's made good progress staying calm while observing bigger dogs from a distance.
Lalo likes children and has been friendly, affectionate, and gentle with them.
Lalo is looking for a home where he will be a central part of daily life. He thrives on companionship and loves being around his person or people. His forever home will need to continue helping him build calm indoor manners and reinforce the progress he has been making. He would do particularly well with someone who enjoys interacting with Lalo and including him in everyday life.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
