Sadie is an Australian Heeler/Cattle Dog/Boxer mix, around 5 years old, and weighs 58 lbs. She’s spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Sadie came to us as a staff favorite from a large high intake shelter. She was an angel at her previous shelter, but they did not have many adopters. It's no surprise everyone loved her because Sadie doesn’t just like people… she has a passion for them! She’s instantly trusting and makes it her mission to win over every new friend she meets. If you’re a stranger, Sadie’s approach is simple: gently attach herself to your leg, hand, or chest until you understand the assignment—belly rubs are required! And once she chooses you as her person? She wants to be close: Snuggled on the couch, following you from room to room, and yes… ideally sleeping in your bed. Sadie does well with other dogs and has been around many in different homes without issues. She tends to prefer mature dogs over puppy chaos. With cats, she mostly ignores them on walks, though she hasn’t been tested with a cat in a home. She’s a wonderful walker with a medium energy level—happy to get out and go, but also perfectly content to lounge. She does hit the 15-minute snooze button in the morning first, which only makes her more lovable. Inside the home, Sadie is a Dream Girl. She’s fully house trained, has never been destructive, and doesn’t chew or take things that aren’t hers. If she ever shows interest in something she shouldn’t have, a simple correction is enough—she’ll ignore it from then on. She only barks if someone knocks at the door, and even then she stays calm—she’s just doing her “I’ve got this” job.
Ideal Home
Sadie would love to be close to her people, preferably with opportunities for snuggles on the couch and perhaps even sharing a bed. She enjoys the company of other mature dogs.
Ongoing Health
Sadie had some bumps under her skin when she was spayed, and they were proactively removed as a precaution; they were benign. Prior to this surgery, an echo was performed and showed she has a slight heart murmur, but the vet has cleared her as being in great condition.
Training & Support
Sadie is a well-behaved girl inside the home, being fully house-trained and not destructive. If she shows interest in something she shouldn’t have, a simple correction is all that's needed. She only barks at the door and remains calm.
