Sandy Avalon is a dog with a gentle soul and an innocent sweetness that will melt your heart. Her eyes truly look into your soul, and she's quiet and affectionate once she warms up to you. Sandy shows her love through subtle leans and tiny steps closer, making her a loyal best friend. She is a calm dog and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, matching their energy level. In fact, having another dog in the home is a must for Sandy, as it helps her build confidence. She's still working on building her confidence and needs a patient family who can give her time to adjust. A securely fenced yard is also a must for her to safely explore.
Sandy is fully crate trained and potty trained, having never had an accident in foster care. She loves her daily walks, where her gentle and easy-going nature truly shines. She is non-reactive to distractions and walks calmly on a leash. She also enjoys short car rides and exploring local lakes. She currently lives with a family that includes teenagers, a resident dog, and a variety of foster puppies and adult dogs. Sandy is also cat-tolerant and shows remarkable patience with all animals.
While Sandy isn't motivated by most treats, she can't resist Colby Jack cheese, which is perfect for administering her monthly flea medicine. She is also very quiet and rarely barks. Sandy enjoys affection on her own terms, letting you know when she wants attention with slow movements. She enjoys chin scratches, head rubs, and chest massages, striking a perfect balance of affection without being overly demanding.
Sandy is a calm and gentle pup, but sudden movements can make her skittish. She would do best in a home with older, respectful children who can give her the space she needs to feel secure. Her ideal family will be patient and provide a stable, supportive environment to help her continue building her confidence.
