Wile is a gentle, affectionate Husky mix who arrived from an Ontario shelter after experiencing severe stress and self-harming behavior in confinement. In foster care, he is happy, playful, eager to learn, and loves being close to his people.

Ideal Home

Wile cannot be crated or confined because of his crate and kennel phobia. He would do best with someone who works from home or can take him to work, though he has been comfortable staying home with resident dogs for up to six hours. He does well with dogs and enjoys daycare, outdoor adventures, toys, and rolling in the grass. He should not live with cats or rabbits. He is wonderful with adults and visiting children, but a home with young children may not be the best fit. He may be opinionated when another dog approaches his person and can react to dogs he sees from the car.

Wile is approximately 90% housetrained and may have an accident if not supervised. He can clear a four-foot baby gate, likes to investigate counters, and wants to remain near his person.

Ongoing Health

Wile was underweight at 40 pounds on arrival and is working toward an expected healthy weight of approximately 50 pounds. He received a dental after arriving in rescue, was up to date on care from the shelter, and currently takes Clomicalm for anxiety. His anxiety has improved significantly, and the medication may be gradually reduced after adoption with veterinary support.

The $99 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, deworming, flea and tick prevention, vaccinations, dental or other necessary surgical care, a nose-to-tail health exam, food, supplies, and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage for new, non-pre-existing illness or injury.

Training & Support

Wile is eager to please and learning companion-dog manners. He is leash-walkable but needs continued work because he likes to stay close to his person. He may whine briefly when left but settles well, and his foster family reports that his anxiety continues to lessen as he builds trust.
