Dahlia Daisy Flower is an 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as delicate and beautiful as her namesake flower, and oh so sweet! She currently weighs around 35 pounds and is expected to be between 40-45 pounds when fully grown. Dahlia is a delightful pup who loves to start her day with a potty break and some zoomies, followed by a brisk walk where her leash skills are nearly perfect, unless a squirrel catches her eye! She's an adventurous spirit who enjoys hitting the trails and parks, making friends with everyone she meets. While a bit shy with new people, she warms up quickly and is incredibly sweet. Dahlia would be an amazing camping companion, especially for those summer adventures in the PNW. She's a great office dog, happily snoozing by your side, and enjoys playtime with the other four dogs in her foster home. She gets along beautifully with her canine housemates of various sizes, but it's recommended that any small dogs in the home are able to set their own boundaries to help her learn appropriate play. Dahlia's favorite pastimes include playing with pine cones and carrying around big sticks.
Ideal Home
Dahlia would be happiest in a home with another playful dog to share her life with, or with access to regular doggy daycare if her people work full time. She would likely do well with respectful children aged 8 and up who will engage with her. While she could thrive in a dog-friendly apartment or condo, it's important to consider her tendency to vocalize when initially left alone in her crate, which might be a concern for homes with shared walls. She is not yet tested with cats, but an overnight test can be arranged.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up-to-date on all vetting, including vaccinations, deworming, flea and heartworm prevention, and is spayed.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house trained. She does cry in her crate when first left alone, but settles eventually. This behavior may need to be re-established in her new home. She will need continued positive reinforcement to help her understand how to play appropriately with smaller dogs.
