Zeus **Courtesy Listing**

Zeus is a sweet 9-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is looking for his forever home. He was rescued six years ago by his current owner and initially had some reservations about men. However, Zeus quickly bonded with his owner and has proven to be an incredibly loving and loyal companion. He's a bit of a protector and will always try to be by your side, even attempting to "save" you from a pool! While he may look tough, Zeus is a big softy at heart.

Ideal Home

Zeus would do best in a home where he can be the sole focus of attention, or with another dog who is calm and not dominant. He does not do well around aggressive dogs, but is generally chill with well-behaved canine companions. Zeus also has a high prey drive, so homes without small, quick-moving creatures like lizards would be ideal. He does not like to be kenneled.

Ongoing Health

Zeus has a low-grade heart murmur (rated a 3 out of 10) and requires medication (Vetmedin) for this condition.

Training & Support

Zeus has undergone professional dog psychology training and responded extremely well. His owner learned how to communicate effectively as the "Apex Predator" of the pack, leading to significant improvements in Zeus's behavior. He used to experience separation anxiety, but it has dramatically improved. While he is now a pleasure to walk on and off leash, Zeus benefits from consistent leadership and clear boundaries.
