Chewy is a 13-year-old Shih Tzu mix who has recently completed his medical care and is ready to find his forever home. He has been in foster care and has shown us that he would be happiest in a home with no more than one smaller dog. Chewy enjoys the company of adults but can be a bit of a grumpy soul, making him not the best fit for homes with children. He does tend to wander, so a securely fenced yard is highly recommended. Chewy is a loyal companion who enjoys sleeping on the bed or couch with his person, going for walks, and displaying his vigilant watchdog temperament with moderate barking. He is a groom dog with low shedding and requires regular appointments with a groomer. Chewy has a lower energy level and enjoys his nap times. While he can be strong-willed and stubborn at times, he is not a bad dog and will reward patient and understanding adopters with affection and companionship.
Ideal Home
Chewy would thrive in a home with one or no other dogs, preferably a smaller breed. A securely fenced yard is highly recommended. He is not child-friendly.
Ongoing Health
Chewy's medical has been completed, and he is ready for his new home. He will need regular grooming appointments.
Training & Support
Chewy is not always perfectly house-trained and will require the use of belly bands. He does not like to be kenneled. Patience and understanding will be key to helping Chewy settle into his new environment.
