About Groot
Head of the Welcome Committee, Self-Appointed Assistant Manager reporting for duty! Groot is a 45-pound, long-legged goober who walks through life with the confidence of someone who has been promoted to a position that doesn't actually exist. He has somehow convinced himself that he's both the Head of the Welcome Committee and the Assistant Manager of your household. Nobody hired him, nobody trained him, but he noticed there were jobs to be done and clocked in! Making breakfast? He's there. Taking the trash out? He'll supervise. Checking the mail? He'll escort you. His performance reviews are outstanding, and he's equal parts backyard explorer, quality control specialist, and morale officer.
Groot's enormous ears are a marvel – we're pretty sure he can hear a bag of treats opening in another county! He's often listening to something happening three houses over, then he'll slowly turn and give you a look like, "Don't worry... I've got it handled." Outside is Groot's favorite office where he loves to run, explore, sniff every inch of the yard, and make sure the squirrels are complying with neighborhood regulations. He'll stand perfectly still, staring into the woods like he's solving a federal investigation, then immediately abandon all professional responsibilities and launch into full-speed zoomies because another dog started running first.
Groot LOVES other dogs and truly blossoms with canine companionship. Watching him meet another dog is like watching someone unexpectedly run into their best friend at the airport – instant friendship, instant excitement, and instant plans to spend the afternoon together. We'd absolutely love to see him in a home with another playful dog, as having a buddy to wrestle with, explore beside, and curl up next to after a long workday is where Groot shines brightest. For someone with such an important position, Groot has impeccable manners. He's fully house trained, crate trained, and already knows sit, lay down, give paw, "go eat," "go outside," and "go for a walk." He learns quickly, responds beautifully to praise, and genuinely wants to make his people proud. He'll proudly pick up one of his toys and gently place it in your lap like he's delivering important paperwork, not because you asked or because he wants anything, but because he thought you should have it. He's sweet without being clingy, playful without being chaotic, and funny without even realizing it. He's just one of those genuinely good dogs whose personality slowly wraps around your life, eventually becoming the reason you smile when you pull into the driveway and the reason the house feels full.
