Yta's story began as a "potcake dog" on the streets of the Bahamas, so when she first came to us, everything about home life was brand new. Fast forward a year and a half, and she's settled into a calm, cozy routine. She just needs the right person to help her take the next steps. Her days are simple and peaceful. You'll usually find her curled up in one of her favorite comfy spots, often sharing a bed with her dog bestie. She's incredibly mellow, quiet, and gentle. She rarely barks and never shows any aggression. She truly is one of the easiest dogs to have around. Yta absolutely loves other dogs and gains so much confidence from them. Having a canine companion is her happy place, and she would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to help her feel safe and secure. Mealtime is a highlight and she LOVES rotisserie chicken. She happily sits for treats and has made amazing progress with food sharing, now eating calmly right alongside other dogs. Because of her past, Yta is still learning to feel comfortable with human touch and isn't able to walk on a leash yet. She will need a patient adopter who understands her touch aversion and is willing to continue working with training. A secure, fenced yard is a must so she can safely go outside. Yta just needs a dog friend and a person willing to give her time and patience. She would be the perfect addition for someone looking for a companion for their existing dog. She's a gentle, quiet presence who thrives alongside a confident canine buddy and will blossom more with the right support.
Ideal Home
Yta needs a patient and loving home where her space and needs can be respected. She requires a dog pal to be her mentor and a secure, fenced yard is necessary for her to do her business until she learns to be okay on the leash.
Ongoing Health
Yta's adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.
Training & Support
Yta is good with bathroom and crate training and is working on leash training. She is still learning to feel comfortable with human touch and isn't able to walk on a leash yet, so she will need a patient adopter willing to continue working with training.
