Lazaro

Lázaro is a charming 6–7-year-old male Schnauzer mix, weighing around 19 lbs. He's a calm, gentle soul with a quiet presence, happy to sleep in an open crate for short periods. Lázaro is a social butterfly, getting along wonderfully with other dogs, children, men, and women. He even coexists peacefully with chickens and roosters! While he enjoys affection, he's not overly clingy, preferring a more independent, low-key companionship. Lázaro is generally tranquil and easygoing, perfect for a relaxed household. He can be a bit protective of his food, so some basic boundaries during meal times are recommended. Lázaro has a unique and special look: one of his eyes is congenitally small and without vision, and he's missing a few teeth. Despite these differences, he's a healthy, pain-free boy living a completely normal life. He enjoys walks, is non-aggressive, and while he might bark and act like the "boss" sometimes, it's all bluster, never aggression. Abandoned for being considered "old" and "different," Lázaro is living proof that true beauty comes from the heart and is ready for a family who will cherish his calm nature, resilience, and quiet loyalty.

Ideal Home

Lázaro would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, understanding that rescued animals may need extra protection, education, and patience. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer is a must. He requires high tolerance and patience, as he is not house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Lázaro is healthy and pain-free despite having a congenital issue with one eye (small and without vision) and missing a few teeth. His health protocol includes being spayed/neutered, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, microchipped, tested for 4DX and heartworm (negative), and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Nexgard Spectra). He has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.

Training & Support

Lázaro is not house-trained, which is common for rescued dogs. He can be a bit protective of his food, so clear boundaries during feeding times are recommended. He may sometimes bark and try to act like the boss, but this is not aggression. He requires patience and understanding as he adjusts to a new environment, which is crucial for rescued dogs who may have experienced past trauma.

Transportation

Lázaro is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip if adopted. Door-to-door delivery is available for a one-time fee of $400 USD. This includes scheduled trips (3-4 per year), a contracted transport company, all necessary legal and USDA health documents, and real-time updates during the journey via a private Facebook Messenger group. The transport team will deliver your pet directly to your home and conduct a final home review.
