Please meet Balou! This darling fellow and his sister were being given away in a parking lot when they were young puppies. Thankfully, one of our awesome fosters spotted them and decided to take them into her home to ensure that they would be properly cared for, vetted, and receive lots of love while getting ready to find their forever homes. If she hadn’t come along, who knows where these babies might have ended up!
Balou is now 7 months old and weighs in at 23 pounds. Balou is a total Heinz 57 mix. He is Siberian Husky, Beagle, Catahoula Leopard Dog, Lab, Cocker, Golden, German Shepherd, Collie, and some Shih Tzu after his DNA testing. He has one blue eye and is a very striking pup. He is crate trained, but doesn’t love being kenneled and will tell you that he’d much prefer to be cuddled up in his human’s lap, or sleeping in his foster’s grandson’s bed. This boy never met a stranger and loves everyone he meets, including children. His favorite things are fetch and playing tug-of-war with his chew toys. As long as he’s getting attention, he’s a happy camper.
Ideal Home
Balou will do best in a home where there is someone around during the day. He tends to think that cats were put on this planet for chasing so, kitties in his home should be dog-savvy.
Ongoing Health
Balou is neutered, up to date with vaccinations, and micro-chipped.
Training & Support
Balou is coming along with house training and doesn’t have any inside accidents overnight. During the day, he and his sister spend much of their time outdoors at their foster home, but with a consistent routine and positive reinforcement, this smart, alert pup will have all of his house manners mastered quickly. He will need some help with leash training. He wants to please and will thrive with a family that has the time to devote to making him the best dog he can be.
